Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Coco Studios ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the DuckRemote mobile application ("the App"), available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We do not require you to create an account or sign up to use the App.
1. Information We Collect
The App is designed to function as a universal TV remote. We collect minimal data necessary to provide and improve our services:
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and app version for analytics and troubleshooting purposes.
- Identifiers: On Android, the Android Advertising ID (AAID). On iOS, the Identifier for Vendor (IDFV) and — only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission — the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). See Section 4 for details.
- Network Information: Local network discovery data required to find and connect to your TV, streaming stick, or other compatible devices on your local Wi-Fi network. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Usage Data: Anonymous app usage statistics, crash reports, and performance data collected through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to improve app stability and user experience.
- Advertising Data: Advertising identifiers used by Google AdMob to serve advertisements within the App.
- Subscription Status: If you purchase the optional Ad-Free Subscription, the App receives your subscription status (active / expired) from Apple's StoreKit (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android) to enable ad-free playback. Payment information — including your card number, billing address, and Apple ID / Google account — is processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive, store, or have access to your payment details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App's core functionality (discovering, pairing with, and controlling your TV and streaming devices).
- To monitor and analyze usage patterns and improve app performance.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and crashes.
- To serve advertisements through Google AdMob (personalized only with your consent on iOS via App Tracking Transparency).
3. iOS Local Network Permission
On iOS 14 and later, the App must request your permission to access devices on your local network. This permission is required for DuckRemote's core function — discovering your TV or streaming device on your Wi-Fi network. We use this permission solely to scan for compatible devices and send remote-control commands. We do not collect, store, or transmit any information about other devices on your network.
If you deny this permission, the App will not be able to find or control your TV. You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → DuckRemote.
4. App Tracking Transparency (iOS 14.5+)
On iOS 14.5 and later, before serving personalized advertisements, the App will display Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asking for your permission to access your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
- If you allow tracking: Google AdMob may use your IDFA to deliver personalized ads based on your interests across other apps and websites.
- If you deny tracking: You will still see ads in the App, but they will be non-personalized (contextual only). Denying tracking does not remove ads or affect any other App functionality.
You can change your tracking preference at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
5. Third-Party Services
The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Used for analytics and crash reporting. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob: Used for serving advertisements. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Play Services: Provides core Android services (Android only). Google Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store: For iOS distribution. Apple Privacy Policy
6. Data Storage and Security
We do not store any personal data on our own servers. All remote-control operations are performed locally over your network. Pairing data, themes, and preferences are stored only on your device. Analytics and crash data collected by Firebase are stored on Google's servers in accordance with their data retention policies.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Data Retention
Anonymous analytics data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. You can reset your advertising identifier at any time through your device settings.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher minimum age where required by local law, such as 16 under GDPR-K in parts of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at cocostudios321@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action to delete such information.
9. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to:
- Opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
- Request information about the data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of any data associated with your use of the App.
To request data deletion, email cocostudios321@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include your device platform (iOS or Android) and, if known, your advertising identifier. We will respond within 30 days.
You can also delete all locally-stored App data at any time by uninstalling the App from your device.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
